The Best Source for Baby Showers on the Web
What are good ideals for food. . and what are some inexpensive party favors?
MyBabyShowerStore gets down to the nitty-gritty of planning a baby shower: setting a date, finding a location, gift ideas and sending out the invitations. But once you've got that out of the way you can concentrate on the fun stuff: We're talking theme, food, decorations, and games.

Congratulations on being a Mommy-to-be, first of all!
Look there! Guarenteed you will find ideas, if not favors.
I have been to several of my close friend’s baby showers and I have helped plan some, too. Keep in mind that your guests are coming to see you and celebrate your baby coming!! They aren’t coming to leave with an armful of gifts…..
As far as good goes:
Finger Sandwiches (they are little, cute, and easy to do!)
Veggie Platters, Fruit Platters (you can never go wrong!)
Baby corn (the kind that look like corn on the cob, but baby!)
Baby shrimp (yes, expensive, but their ‘baby!’)
For party favors:
Candy filled baby bottles (M&M’s, Skittles, etc.)
Bath beads!! (They are great for any woman out there!! And cheap!)
And, also——the internet is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to ANYTHING!
And to add a little extra ’spice’ to your baby shower:
Fill some baby bottles with condiments for your sandwiches! CUTE!
Baby food jar candle holders (take empty baby food jars and add a little votive for a nice feel to your shower.) And these could even be made into gifts—-just make some labels out of regular ole paper, and ta-da!
Good luck to you!! I hope this helps you a little bit, at least.
Congrats, again!!

* If you’re hiring a caterer or if the baby shower food and drinks is being taken care of by the venue, make sure you coordinate well with them regarding the menu. Make sure that there’s a wide assortment of dishes, and their quantity is sufficient for the guests.
* If you’re preparing the food yourself, consult the mom-to-be as to what dishes she’ll want you to have. Remember, the party is made for her, so it’s only right that the food will somewhat please her. You should also ask your friends to help you prepare these refreshments. It also won’t hurt to ask someone who has organized a successful baby shower for some helpful tips and pointers.

Depends on the time of the shower. If you have it mid afternoon, you can get away with a veggie platter, finger sandwiches, fruit and other easy finger foods.
You can go the desert route and have a bunch of cookies, brownies, cake or cupcakes
Take a trip to costco…it will make your life really easy
ALSO…get the frozen meatballs. Cook them in the oven for 15 min, put them in a crockpot on low at teriyaki sauce and pineapple chunks. They are always a hit.
For party favors…get candles, hand creams, scarves, etc.

I am not sure if you are the host… but I am assuming you are!
WHERE TO BEGIN:
A host needs to start by asking herself a few questions. Is the baby shower going to be a surprise? Will there be a particular theme to the baby shower? Is this baby shower girls only, or will it be co-ed? The answers to these three questions will radically change the feel of this baby shower.
If you’ve decided not to surprise the guest of honor, then you can consult her on the latter two questions. If the shower is a surprise, then you may want to ask those closest to the expectant mother to find out what she would like. However, remember that surprises aren’t for everyone so make sure your guest of honor likes surprises before you proceed with this option.
Before any real planning of the shower can begin, though, you need to decide on a date. Obviously, you will need to make sure the expecting mother is free and able to attend. You might have to be a bit sneaky finding this out if you’re planning a surprise baby shower.
Once you have established the date, whether or not it will be a couples shower, and what the theme to the shower will be, you can start to get your baby shower plans off the ground.
GIFTS FOR PEOPLE TO GIVE:
If the parents have registered for baby shower gifts, you can include this information in the invitation. However, etiquette dictates that, at the very least, registry information should be on a separate slip of paper, not on the invitation itself. Better yet, do not include this information at all with the invitation. Instead, let guests know about the registry when they confirm their attendance at the baby shower. If they notify you by e-mail, then you can send a response to let them know you’re looking forward to seeing them at the shower and give them the registry details in the e-mail.
If you want some unique baby shower invitation ideas, then consider incorporating your theme into the invitation. If you’re going with a tropical theme, then look for invitations that have a palm tree or coconuts on the front. Or buy some inexpensive baby tops or socks and use them as your invitation. Using a marker that can write on cloth, write down all the important information and voilà! You have an original invitation that lets people immediately know this is a baby shower. If the mom is having twins, then include two socks or shirts so everyone knows this is a twin baby shower invitation.
AT THE SHOWER:
Many people enjoy playing games or having some baby shower crafts during the shower. For some great baby shower games ideas, see Have the Most Fun Baby Shower, Ever! If you would like to plan some baby shower activities, keep in mind what the guest of honor would like. Not everyone enjoys playing games, and if mom is one of those people, it might be better to avoid them. Additionally, if everyone already knows each other, you may find that you don’t need the games to get things going.
CREATIVE CRAFTS:
People so rarely get a chance to indulge their creative side that crafts, on the other hand, can sometimes be a big hit with guests. Some good baby shower ideas for crafts include decorating items for the baby. Guests can use clothing friendly markers to draw on baby shirts, onesies or bibs. These can be given to mom afterwards both as a reminder of the shower and to use.
You can also creatively help out mom with her baby shower thank you notes. First, create a nice gift basket that your guests can win. As the guests arrive at the shower, have them write out their name and address on an envelope. Put all of the envelopes into a box and, once everyone has arrived, draw a winner from the box. After the draw, give the already addressed envelopes to the guest of honor. This will make it much quicker for her when she finally gets around to her baby shower thank you cards.
FAVORS:
It is common to provide guests with favors and/or prizes if you play games. The favors don’t need to be (and probably shouldn’t be) expensive, especially if you’re also giving out prizes for a game. In fact, the most popular game prizes are often the silly little toys that you can buy at a dollar store.
If you’re looking for some inexpensive baby shower favor ideas, then here are some easy ones. Buy some baby socks and fill them with candies and little chocolates. Or, if it matches your theme, then you could fill some baby bottles with candies and use them first as a centerpiece or as a weight for balloons, then give them out as shower favors after. If you have the time, then bake some cookies and use cookie cutters to cut out baby themed shapes. Put a few into baggies, tie them with some nice ribbon and you have an inexpensive baby shower favor.
Most of all, remember that baby showers are for mom. Be sure that wherever you are holding the shower, there is a comfortable chair for her to sit in, her favorite foods are served, and that she is reminded of just how special she and her new arrival

1(Take small tomatoes and cut them in half, gut them of the seeds and slime and salt them slightly. Then take tuna or chicken salad and put a dolop on each tomato half. Garnish with parsley if you’d like. They sound odd I know, but you’ll be surprised how many people become tomato lovers from this simple snack.) 2(Take small thumb sized mushrooms and pull the stems off. Boil them in slightly salty water until soft. Let them dry and drain and put a bit of cold cream cheese in each tiny mushroom bowl and refrigerate until served. Very tastey and a good pallet cleanser.) 3(Keish are also a great choice, serve warm to offset the cool tomatoes and mushrooms. Don’t be ashamed to buy frozen because they’re difficult to make and no one will know the difference.) 4(Instead of chicken/egg/tuna salad on plain flat bread, step it up in an easy way by making your finger sandwiches out of baby crisonts or large ones cut into halves) 5(Of course do a fruit or a veggie tray depending on the season and you might want to add deli meat rolls to a veggie tray.)
I hope someone else gives you favor ideas!
Good luck and congrats on the new baby in your life!

Mini cheesecakes (pre-made and cut from Sam’s Club), cheese balls and crackers.
Favors: I bought baby block boxes and filled them with Hershey’s for an inexpensive favor. If you’re luck you might be able to find Hersheys that are pink or blue and say either it’s a boy or it’s a girl. I couldn’t find them so I just used the cherry cordial since it was closest to pink.

We had my baby shower in the afternoon from 2-4:30
That way people wouldn’t expect to have lunch, and it ended before dinner time. We had a special cake that said “Welcome to the World Little One” and cheese, meat, crackers. Also, another idea is a watermelon cut into a basket and hollowed out, then you can put berries, cantaloupe..all kinds of fruit in it. Go to google and type “watermelon fruit basket” then go to images.
For drinks you can have a big punch bowl. Get clear carbonated soda like sprite or canada dry ginger ale. fill the bowl and add lots of rainbow sherbet.
You can type up a game called “Baby predictions”
People predict the date and time (a.m. or p.m.) baby will be born.
The sex, if you don’t already know.
Weight, Height
Eye color
Hair color
Head shape (square, oval, cone, etc.)
Special/Unique characteristics that they think baby will have
How they think baby will act in the first week (cry a lot, sleep, eat, etc)
Make sure everybody puts their name on the paper
Then have a special box that everybody puts their paper in. You are not allowed to read what people wrote until after baby is born.
When I came home from the hospital I forgot about the box, but found ita couple weeks later. It was nice when I had the chance to relax with my baby and read what everyone had written, and find out who was right.

you can ask guests to each bring a dish when they come as well as make something yourself. At my shower we ate chicken bought at the grocery store cut into quarters, rice, salad, shrimp on skewers. For favors my mom gave guests a loofah and candle along with the thank you card from me. And for prizes more candles and some serving dishes. Everyone loves candles and you can get them cheap.

I think for mine we are doing more of an appetizer thing and we will just have a bunch of different kind of stuff because i thought about it and if you have one big meal it gets to be pricey and you dint always know what everyone is going to like but if there are appetizers they will more then likely like Something but also i was thinking maybe I will do some hot ham sandwiches and beef because its easy and cheaper and my husband his family is Mexican(I am white)(we are having guys and girls) so because he is mexican i was thinking about having his mom bring a few items that she knows his family likes! good luck! also salads are always a good thing try different kinds fuit, and then bean salad.. veggies theres so many!
